Why do Jews and Arabs / Muslims hate each other?

Why do Jews and Arabs / Muslims hate each other?

Please forgive my ignorance here, however, I am currently reading John Gibson's "Hating America" and I find this issue rather interesting....sad and pathetic, but interesting.

Sunday school would have been much more interesting if we were taught about this....

"Question: “Why do Jews and Arabs / Muslims hate each other?"

Answer: The hostility between the Arabs and the Jews goes all the way back to Abraham. The Jews are descendants of Abraham’s son Isaac. The Arabs are descendants of Abraham’s son Ishmael. With Ishmael being the son of a slave woman (Genesis 16:1-16) and Isaac being the promised son who would inherit the promises to Abraham (Genesis 21:1-3), obviously there would be some animosity between the two sons. As a result of Ishmael mocking Isaac (Genesis 21:9), Sarah talked Abraham into sending Hagar and Ishmael away (Genesis 21:11-21). Likely this caused even more contempt in Ishmael’s heart towards Isaac. An angel even prophesied to Hagar that Ishmael would “live in hostility toward all his brothers” (Genesis 16:11-12)."

This also goes for those idiots in my HOA who do not want to obey the HOA Restrictions....

Democratic Lawlessness - by Mark Noonan

The first duty of a free person is to obey the laws - the laws, in a free society, being the freely expressed will of the people, they must be obeyed; to not obey the laws is to negate freedom entirely. The law is our protection against the jungle - I obey the laws for my own sake, because I can then demand that the laws also apply to everyone else. I cannot make exceptions to the laws all on my own - I cannot say "I'll obey this law, but not that law".

Our Democratic friends have forgotten this entirely - perhaps it was their routine lawbreaking as students during the 1960's, but however it came about, it is now a routine thing for a Democrat to just not care what the law says if the law is inconvenient for Democrats.......

We had a nice visit with both families in Illinois. I think we brought the cold weather back with us.

I'm still perusing the political blogs for articles for you. It's just that....well, the President won and it doesn't seem to matter what the loony liberal left says anymore...not that it ever mattered...it just bothered me because I thought that people would believe the lies....but they didn't! I received my first Christmas card today....I'm so excited to tell you that it is from President Bush and Laura!! My day is complete. :-) The post mark is from Crawford! So exciting!

It is a nice feeling...The Loony Liberal Left has not stopped its tirade, however, now that the election is over....it doesn't seem to mean as much....

They are still threatening to secede. They are still challenging the vote. And they are still insulting the intelligence of the Red States. This will never end.

Meanwhile...The President is getting stuff done! He's doing a great job and his job approval is increasing. It's amazing how some people can move forward.....and some people cannot.

We can now focus on the important things in life...like...where did my kid misplace his library card? Or why did they let their friend walk out the front door with a $30 game boy game and now their friend has lost it! The $5 library card has been found, however, the $30 game has not.

Blogs For Bush - The October Jobs Surprise

Blogs For Bush

I can assure you; if Kerry had won, he would be getting the credit today.....

"Things are looking good everyone... Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that 337,000 new payroll jobs were created in the month of October... This exceeded market expectations!

Highlights of the BLS Report include:

During the month of October, 337,000 new payroll jobs were created. Since August 2003, 2.3 million new payroll jobs have been created. Payroll employment has now increased for 14 consecutive months.

Employment gains for August and September were revised upward by a total of 113,000 jobs.

The unemployment rate edged up to 5.5 percent in October. However, the unemployment rate is well below last year's peak of 6.3 percent, and below the average unemployment rates of the 1970s, 1980s,and 1990s.

On average this year, roughly 200,000 new jobs have been created each month.

Reuters also notes that October saw the strongest job gains in seven months...

New U.S. jobs soared at the sharpest rate in seven months in October, the government reported on Friday, helped by a surge in construction activity as hurricane-battered areas in the Southeast were rebuilt.

A surprisingly strong 337,000 jobs were added to payrolls last month -- twice the 169,000-job growth that Wall Street economists had forecast and the strongest since March when 353,000 jobs were created, the Labor Department said.

Still, the unemployment rate edged up to 5.5 percent from 5.4 percent in September, but that was because more people joined the search for employment, a potentially hopeful sign.

The next four years are going to be great!"

We are the United States of America - Strong, Blessed, and Powerful - Get Used to It

Well, it has begun. The loony liberal left is a sore loser. I'm just glad that I didn't have to listen to the heathen liberals "Thank God" that their candidate won. That would be blasphemy, right?

Instead, they are now attacking us because of our moral values. Wow! They claim to believe in God, yet, the conservatives have moral values! Go figure.

They accuse us of wanting to legislate morality, yet, they started it. We know the Law; both from God and our constitution. We know the rules. We know the difference between right and wrong. Yet the loony liberal left wanted legal protection to kill unborn babies and commit sodomy....yet they scream that we are the one who wants to legislate morality? No.....we now need to legislate morality since the loony liberal left does not know the Law; both from God and our constitution. The loony liberal left does not know the rules. And the loony liberal left does not know the difference between right and wrong.

I've already received a comment from a Stan, the student, who lives in Finland, who is in denial of the fact that we, the US, have voted overwhelmingly for our President, is trying to tell us, the US, how we should live our lives! Hilarious! He also claims to live in New Jersey once in a while. Now, if he is a citizen...did he vote? If he isn't a citizen, shut up, and go collect your social welfare check from the government in Finland.

Meanwhile, we US citizens will continue to be productive members of society....entitled to keep more of what we earn and spend it as we please...because....well, because I guess that we are just a more responsible country. Our Government does not control every aspect of our lives. It expects us to be responsible, law abiding, moral, productive citizens. The government does not need to be in our paychecks, our homes, our schools, our jobs, our phone conversations, our friends, our speech, our religions, our families, etc...to the extent the government is in European and Middle Eastern countries....

We live in a very independent, blessed country. Other countries are threatened and/or jealous of our blessings and power, and will stop at nothing to take what we have so that we will be as miserable as they. When will the liberal loony left see this? And if they can't, why aren't they moving to Canada or France? I've read several bloggers, including myself, who will be happy to help them pack.

Below is my open letter to Michael Moore I emailed to him yesterday. You can email him at 'mike@michaelmoore.com' should you want to help him pack.

Please forgive any incoherency. I went to sleep at 3:30 am this morning and got up at 5:30 am this morning. I'm a little tired. But what a great feeling!

I am hearing a rumor that certain countries..and terrorists...the liberal media......are....surprised at our election results!

As of right now, the President has received a popular vote of 59,025,418 (51% total). Never before in the history of a presidential election has anyone received this amount of votes. The people of the United States have spoken. Our message is clear.

Hey Liberal Media, France, Germany, Usama (Osama), terrorists, UN ---- Are you listening?!!

Brokaw: Someone has analyzed the President's military aptitude tests and yours, and concluded that he has a higher IQ than you do.
Kerry: That's great. More power. I don't know how they've done it, because my record is not public. So I don't know where you're getting that from."

Medicare Increase

Message

Have you seen the John Kerry commercial in which George Bush pledges to help Seniors on Medicare and "the very next day imposes a 17% premium increase  - the biggest in history"? That ad is a stroke of genius on Kerry's part and will surely gain him many votes among the uninformed.

Fortunately, some folks did some research on the issue.    As it turns out the 17% increase was not imposed by President Bush but was mandated by the "balanced budget agreement" signed by President Clinton, voted  into law by Senator John Kerry and others, and was scheduled to come into effect during the Bush administration.  President Bush had no authority to reverse what had been voted into law by Senator Kerry and others during the Clinton administration.

Once again Kerry is counting on the ignorance of the American  people.

Don't be duped by his mendacity.

PREVIEW: Dying for the United Nations

PREVIEW: Dying for the United Nations:

"Kerry's belief in working with allies runs so deep that he has maintained that the loss of American life can be better justified if it occurs in the course of a mission with international support. In 1994, discussing the possibility of U.S. troops being killed in Bosnia, he said, 'If you mean dying in the course of the United Nations effort, yes, it is worth that. If you mean dying American troops unilaterally going in with some false presumption that we can affect the outcome, the answer is unequivocally no.'"

So....he is saying that our soldiers' deaths are worth it for the United Nations, but NOT for America and our freedoms!

Election Determines Fate of Nation

Election determines fate of nation

written by Mathew Manweller -- Central Washington University political science professor..

"In that this will be my last column before the presidential election, there will be no sarcasm, no attempts at witty repartee. The topic is too serious, and the stakes are too high.

This November we will vote in the only election during our lifetime that will truly matter. Because America is at a once-in-a-generation crossroads, more than an election hangs in the balance. Down one path lie retreat, abdication and a reign of ambivalence. Down the other lies a nation that is aware of its past and accepts the daunting obligation its future demands. If we choose poorly, the consequences will echo through the next 50 years of history. If we, in a spasm of frustration, turn out the current occupant of the White House, the message to the world and ourselves will be two-fold:

First, we will reject the notion that America can do big things. Once a nation that tamed a frontier, stood down the Nazis and stood upon the moon, we will announce to the world that bringing democracy to the Middle East is too big of a task for us. But more significantly, we will signal to future presidents that as voters, we are unwilling to tackle difficult challenges, preferring caution to boldness, embracing the mediocrity that has characterized other civilizations. The defeat of President Bush will send a chilling message to future presidents who may need to make difficult, yet unpopular decisions. America has always been a nation that rises to the demands of history regardless of the costs or appeal. If we turn away from that legacy, we turn away from who we are.

Second, we inform every terrorist organization on the globe that the lesson of Somalia was well learned. In Somalia we showed terrorists that you don't need to defeat America on the battlefield when you can defeat them in the newsroom. They learned that a wounded America can become a defeated America. Twenty-four-hour news stations and daily tracking polls will do the heavy lifting, turning a cut into a fatal blow. Except that Iraq is Somalia times 10. The election of John Kerry will serve notice to every terrorist in every cave that the soft underbelly of American power is the timidity of American voters. Terrorists will know that a steady stream of grizzly photos for CNN is all you need to break the will of the American people. Our own self-doubt will take it from there. Bin Laden will recognize that he can topple any American administration without setting foot on the homeland.

It is said that America's W.W.II generation is its 'greatest generation'. But my greatest fear is that it will become known as America's 'last generation.' Born in the bleakness of the Great Depression and hardened in the fire of WW II, they may be the last American generation that understands the meaning of duty, honor and sacrifice. It is difficult to admit, but I know these terms are spoken with only hollow detachment by many (but not all) in my generation. Too many citizens today mistake 'living in America' as 'being an American.' But America has always been more of an idea than a place. When you sign on, you do more than buy real estate. You accept a set of values and responsibilities.

This November, my generation, which has been absent too long, must grasp the obligation that comes with being an American, or fade into the oblivion they may deserve. I believe that 100 years from now historians will look back at the election of 2004 and see it as the decisive election of our century. Depending on the outcome, they will describe it as the moment America joined the ranks of ordinary nations; or they will describe it as the moment the prodigal sons and daughters of the greatest generation accepted their burden as caretakers of the City on the Hill."

The Buck Stops Here: Best Line

The Buck Stops Here: Best Line

KERRY: I have never suggested a test where we turn over our security to any nation. In fact, I've said the opposite: I will never turn the security of the United States over to any nation. No nation will ever have a veto over us.

But I think it makes sense, I think most Americans in their guts know, that we ought to pass a sort of truth standard. That's how you gain legitimacy with your own countrypeople, and that's how you gain legitimacy in the world.

But I'll never fail to protect the United States of America.

BUSH: In 1990, there was a vast coalition put together to run Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait. The international community, the international world said this is the right thing to do, but when it came time to authorize the use of force on the Senate floor, my opponent voted against the use of force.

Apparently you can't pass any test under his vision of the world.

TERESA'S TAX RETURNS ARE OUT

John Kerry's near-billionaire wife, Teresa, reported more than $5 million in total income last year but paid only 12.5 percent in federal taxes — less than the average middle-class family — according to documents released yesterday by his campaign. Teresa Heinz Kerry reported a total income of $5,072,533, including nearly $2.8 million that escaped all federal taxes because it was on interest-free investments from state, city and other public bonds.

She paid $628,401 in federal taxes, or a rate of 12.47 percent. The average middle-class family pays more than 20 percent.

Mrs. Kerry's rate is barely above the lowest rate of 10 percent for the lowest-income Americans subject to taxes.

President Bush and wife Laura reported paying $227,490 in federal taxes on income of $822,126 or a 27.7 percent rate — more than double the rate paid by Mrs. Kerry. The Bushes reported no tax-exempt interest income.

"It's clear that Mrs. Kerry has found every nook and cranny in the federal tax code to shelter her income," said Stephen Moore of the conservative Club for Growth.

"For a couple that keep insisting the rich should pay their fair share, it's pretty clear that the Kerrys don't pay their fair share," Moore added.

He noted that Mrs. Kerry also escapes the 7.65 percent in Social Security (FICA) payroll taxes paid by middle-class families up to $87,000 in income because her income — derived from the estate of her late first husband, ketchup heir John Heinz — isn't from salary.

Election Day

I wonder if we should close schools on Election Day? I don't like the thought that we vote in Elementary schools while the kids are attending. It did not bother me in 2000, of course, however, it seems to bother me this year.....

CNN.com - Transcripts on David Gergen

CNN.com - Transcripts

I was watching David Gergen on Lou Dobbs last night. (I was just flipping through the channels - I cannot stand Lou Dobbs) However, as I was flipping through the channels, I heard David Gergen talk about Kerry's campaign promises. Gergen said that Kerry has told his voters that, should he get into office and find that he can't reduce the deficit AND keep all of his social promises, he will not follow through with his social programs, e.g. health care for 25 million of the 45 million uninsured; social security; medicare; a job for everyone; etc..

He will instead, just increase taxes to decrease the deficit!

He has already flopped!

GERGEN: Each of these candidates has a plan that costs at least $1 trillion. Many experts think the Kerry plan is 1 to 2, if you include social security. With President Bush, it is 1 to 3 for President Bush. You cannot -- you cannot pass a plan from 1 to 2 to 3 trillion, have all of this debt mounting up and still cut the deficit in half. It just can't be done and the numbers don't add up. So, there's going to have to be a lot of compromising. The one thing I will say on behalf of John Kerry, which I fortunately can't bestow the president right now, at least he said, my plans are subject to the physical conditions of the country. I will not try to pass them unless we are getting the deficit down.....

...Think about it....Kerry has no intent on keeping his campaign promises! He KNOWS that he can't pay for all of his promises!

Encyclopedia: Julia Thorne - Kerry's annulled wife

Encyclopedia: Julia Thorne

Julia Stimson Thorne (born on September 16, 1944) is the author of You Are Not Alone (1994) and A Change of Heart (1996).

She was once married to John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee. Thorne and Kerry were married on May 23, 1970 and divorced July 25, 1988 (they had been separated for many years). They have two children together, Alexandra Kerry (born 1973) and Vanessa Kerry (born 1976).

When the couple met, Thorne was Kerry's best friend's sister.

On May 7, 1997, two years after his remarriage, Kerry publicly announced that he had requested an annulment from the Roman Catholic Church of his marriage to Thorne. Thorne vigorously opposed the annulment, but it was granted.

Does this make Alexandra and Vanessa bastard children? This man is so selfish that he makes his children illegitimate for his own selfish goals.

A message to us all....

I do not know if the person who wrote this email exists; however, the message is real:

Serious Words from a Housewife

Before dawn this morning I awoke with a sense of impending doom and panic. At first I thought I had been awakened by a dream about my deceased father but quickly realized that I was dreaming about a story that he told me many years ago.

During an interview in the early 1960's, Nikita Khrushchev (of the old Soviet Union) told a reporter that the Russian army didn't need to attack the United States to bring it to it's knees. He said that America would be destroyed from within. As a child I didn't understand the meaning of his statement and over the years I thought Khrushchev meant that terrorists and illegal aliens would try to destroy our great nation by sneaking across our borders and physically attacking us on our own soil. After 9/11 my notion was confirmed.

But, I was wrong. The terrorists that brought down the World Trade Center towers managed to slaughter over 3,000 innocent Americans and people of other nationalities but they don't have the power to cripple our country. The subversants and uber-liberals convening in Boston (DNC) have that ability.

In high school, as I studied and began to comprehend world events and history, I wondered how a despot like Adolph Hitler ever came to power. How did one wimpy, albeit schizophrenic, little guy whip up the crowds and turn rational, thinking human beings against their neighbors and supervise the massacre of millions of innocent people? I asked my father, a veteran of WWII, how this could have happened. He told me that he asked a German who had immigrated to this country after the war this same questions. The elderly gentleman hung his head and admitted to my father, "We allowed him to corrupt our youth."

Very late last night on MSNBC Brian Williams narrated a program about John Kerry and his anti-Vietnam War activities in the 70's. Even though he has become a wrinkled, gray-haired 'respectable' United States Senator, Kerry has never ceased to viciously swipe at the under belly of the American defenses - the military that protects his freedom to take those swipes. He has consistently voted against every bill that involved funding for the military and his record is even more liberal than that of Senator Hillary Clinton. The old hippie mentality has never wavered even though the wolf has disguised himself in the sheep's clothing of 3 piece suits and a millionaire lifestyle of mansions and yachts.

What I've never heard is John Kerry admitting that HIS Democratic cronies are the ones that got us in Vietnam in the first place. Like a spoiled, coddled child, he just expected Richard Nixon, our country's "parent" at the time, to get us out of the mess that his political party had gotten us into. John Kerry is consistent in his climb toward a position of power to wreck as much havoc as possible on the American people.

After throwing away the medals he questionably 'earned' in Vietnam, he systematically acquired power by marrying and living off rich women but made his children illegitimate by annulling his marriage to their mother in order to achieve his goal. He supervised the dismantling and relocation overseas of his wife's factories which resulted in the loss of thousands of Americans' jobs while continuing to vote against all military spending bills that came up for a vote.

Watching John Kerry play the electric guitar on stage at a recent Democratic fundraiser reminded me of the time Bill Clinton donned sunglasses and played the saxophone on MTV. Like Hitler, they both knew that the key to their success was to capture the vote and support of the youth of America.

We watched over 10 years ago as a famous celebrity/retired athlete was acquitted of two heinous murders that we ALL knew in our hearts he committed. The jury of his peers were dazzled by his fame and were conned by his slick lawyer's ultimate "stick it to you" race card maneuvering. We have all become so 'politically correct' that we've allowed celebrities to spout their ultra liberal views unchecked. We've allowed non-talents like Anna Nicole Smith to waddle her way across the screen of the American television industry and laugh as she watches her 18 year old son get drunk at her side. We've raised an MTV generation of young people who truly believe the garbage that Michael Moore "documented" and haven't risen up in protest to question the media's codependency in this widespread propaganda.

Who am I? I am a housewife, a nobody, a lone voice asking the American people, "How long will we tolerate the ultraliberal media to elect another President intent on weakening our defenses and shaming us in the eyes of the world? How long will we allow uneducated celebrities to denigrate and mock the very heartbeat of America's moral foundation? How long will we allow the Michael Moore's of this country to skew the truth and be praised and rewarded for it? How long will it take for us to become tired, ashamed old Germans, hanging our heads in disbelief that the youth of our country became angry, damaging senior senators who brought about our destruction from within?" I have no power. I have no influence. I know that George W. Bush is just one man who, like all o f us, isn't perfect. But, I also know and believe in my heart that he's the only hope we have in November, the 'parent's' voice who can tell the spoiled, hedonistic 'children' of our country to shut their hypocritical mouths and quit working toward undermining our nation. I'm asking you to forward this message to as many people as you dare risk insulting. I'm asking, "Will we wake up before Nikita Khrushchev's prediction comes true?"

-- Jan Morrow, daughter of a WWII veteran, sister of a Vietnam War veteran and the wife of a retired U.S. Air Force veteran.

Legal XXX: Does Kerry Have a Plan? 29 of them to be precise...

Legal XXX: Does Kerry Have a Plan? 29 of them to be precise... - This is a blog from a Law Student in California...

I have a plan to put people back to work.

I've proposed a plan that can capture it and contain it and clean it within four years.

I could do a better job. My plan does a better job.

You can pull it off of the Internet. And you'll find a tort reform plan.

I have a plan.

I have a plan to lower the cost of health care for you.

I have a plan to cover all children.

I have a plan to let you buy into the same health care senators and congressmen give themselves.

I have a plan that's going to allow people 55 to 64 to buy into Medicare early.

And I have a plan that will take the catastrophic cases out of the system....

What means something is: Do you have a plan?

And I want to talk about my plan some more...

Let me begin by saying that my health-care plan is not what the president described.

Choose your doctor, choose your plan. (Ed--Now even YOU have a plan!)

The only people affected by my plan are the top income earners of America.

Now, you didn't hear any plan from the president, because he doesn't have a plan to lower the cost of health care.

I have a plan to cover those folks. And it's a plan that lowers cost for everybody...

We've got to create the products of the future. That's why I have a plan for energy independence within 10 years.

The Wall Street Journal said 96 percent of small businesses are not affected at all by my plan.

The president rushed our nation to war without a plan to win the peace

I have a plan that will help us go out and kill and find the terrorists

But I'll also have a better plan of how we're going to deal with Iraq

I have a plan to provide health care to all Americans

I have a plan to provide for our schools...

I have a plan to protect the environment...

Think he might be overplanning a bit?

Last Night's Debate

John Kerry Supports Tax Hikes on 94 Million Americans
Candidate attacks middle class tax cuts, would offer relief to just 16% of taxpayers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Bush today signed into law broadly supported bi-partisan legislation extending President Bush’s middle class tax cuts. John Kerry has claimed in the past to back the reform, but he is now criticizing the bill and will most likely attempt to roll back the tax relief if elected President.

Kerry voted against the cuts in 2001 and 2003, but later claimed to support many of their provisions, like the expanded child credit and marriage penalty elimination, during his campaign. He has again changed his position, and is now offering a tax plan that would increase taxes on 94 million Americans while cutting taxes on only 16% of the taxpayers.

“President Bush’s tax cuts brought relief to every single American across the country,” concluded Norquist. “John Kerry wants to take that tax relief away and stick the vast majority of Americans with a big tax hike.”

John Kerry has repeatedly promised to give 98% of Americans tax relief, but he has only proposed targeted tax cuts that would affect a mere 16% of filers. Kerry economic advisor Gene Sperling concedes that Kerry has not budgeted for extending the middle-class tax relief. Kerry insists that all tax cuts must be “paid for” with other tax hikes, so his failure to budget the middle class tax cuts strongly indicates he intends to roll them back.

“John Kerry has no intention of preserving President Bush’s tax cuts for working Americans,” continued Norquist. “Kerry intends to raise taxes on 94 millions Americans to pay for his bloated new government spending programs.”

John Edwards Dishonest about Campaign's Tax Platform
Senator contradicts own campaign budget proposal during debate with V.P. Cheney

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Democratic vice presidential candidate, Sen. John Edwards, last night backed up recent statements made by his running mate John Kerry promising the American people that they would not raise taxes on anyone making under $200,000 per year. Said Edwards, "And I want everyone to hear this,....(w)e want to keep the tax cuts that are in place for people who make less than $200,000 a year."

Perhaps Edwards should check with his economic team, because the Kerry-Edwards budget proposal, the actual fiscal policy the Democrats plan to implement if they are elected, calls for hikes on the top two income tax brackets. The top income tax bracket targets Americans who earn over $200,000 per year, but the second highest income bracket includes individuals, married couples and small businesses earning as little as $146,500.

"In their own budget proposal, Kerry and Edwards state that they intend to implement tax hikes beginning at a threshold income of $146,500 per year," said ATR President Grover Norquist. "John Kerry and John Edwards have falsely promised that they only want to raise taxes on those making over $200,000 per year."

Repealing President Bush's tax cuts on the top two income tax brackets would raise taxes on 900,000 small business owners and entrepreneurs. Many small businesses, which are responsible for creating 7 out of every 10 jobs in America, could be forced to either lay off employees of go out of business.

"Either Kerry and Edwards don’t understand their own fiscal policy, or they are deliberately deceiving voters; neither scenario is attractive behavior for a potential Presidential administration,” continued Norquist. “If voters can’t trust the promises John Kerry and John Edwards make in nationally televised debates, how can they trust anything else they have to say?”

Americans for Tax Reform is a non-partisan coalition of taxpayers and taxpayer groups who oppose all federal and state tax increases. For more information or to arrange an interview please contact Christopher Butler at (202) 785-0266 or by email at cbutler@atr.org.

Where is Kerry's Plan??

After watching the debate on Thursday and reading the transcript, here are my thoughts...

Kerry constantly attacked the President and accused him of making mistakes. Kerry continously said that he "could do better," however, he never told us HOW he could do better. He NEVER gave us a plan!

Kerry said that he would bring the US more allies, but in the same breath, he would turn away allies in our issue with North Korea.

By the Way, Kerry also stated that he wants to do away with our nuclear defense system! He claims he will defend us, and in one sentence, he hands us over to the terrorists!

Below is the direct question from Lehrer asking Kerry as to what is his plan...and Kerry's nonanswer....(my comments are in bold and italic)

LEHRER: Speaking of your plan, new question, Senator Kerry. Two minutes.

Can you give us specifics, in terms of a scenario, time lines, et cetera, for ending major U.S. military involvement in Iraq?

KERRY: The time line that I've set out -- and again, I want to correct the president, because he's misled again this evening on what I've said. I didn't say I would bring troops out in six months. I said, if we do the things that I've set out and we are successful, we could begin to draw the troops down in six months.

KERRY: And I think a critical component of success in Iraq is being able to convince the Iraqis and the Arab world that the United States doesn't have long-term designs on it.
As I understand it, we're building some 14 military bases there now, and some people say they've got a rather permanent concept to them.

When you guard the oil ministry, but you don't guard the nuclear facilities, the message to a lot of people is maybe, "Wow, maybe they're interested in our oil." (Nuclear facilities? Does that mean WMDs?) Kerry said Saddam did not have WMDs! Now he says Saddam did?

Now, the problem is that they didn't think these things through properly. And these are the things you have to think through.

What I want to do is change the dynamics on the ground. And you have to do that by beginning to not back off of the Fallujahs and other places, and send the wrong message to the terrorists. You have to close the borders.

You've got to show you're serious in that regard. But you've also got to show that you are prepared to bring the rest of the world in and share the stakes.

I will make a flat statement: The United States of America has no long-term designs on staying in Iraq.

KERRY: And our goal in my administration would be to get all of the troops out of there with a minimal amount you need for training and logistics as we do in some other countries in the world after a war to be able to sustain the peace.

But that's how we're going to win the peace, by rapidly training the Iraqis themselves.
Even the administration has admitted they haven't done the training, because they came back to Congress a few weeks ago and asked for a complete reprogramming of the money.
Now what greater admission is there, 16 months afterwards. "Oops, we haven't done the job. We have to start to spend the money now. Will you guys give us permission to shift it over into training?"

He didn't answer the question! He has NO PLAN!

LEHRER: Ninety seconds.

BUSH: There are 100,000 troops trained, police, guard, special units, border patrol. There's going to be 125,000 trained by the end of this year. Yes, we're getting the job done. It's hard work. Everybody knows it's hard work, because there's a determined enemy that's trying to defeat us.

BUSH: Now, my opponent says he's going to try to change the dynamics on the ground. Well, Prime Minister Allawi was here. He is the leader of that country. He's a brave, brave man. When he came, after giving a speech to the Congress, my opponent questioned his credibility.
You can't change the dynamics on the ground if you've criticized the brave leader of Iraq.
One of his campaign people alleged that Prime Minister Allawi was like a puppet. That's no way to treat somebody who's courageous and brave, that is trying to lead his country forward.
The way to make sure that we succeed is to send consistent, sound messages to the Iraqi people that when we give our word, we will keep our word, that we stand with you, that we believe you want to be free. And I do.

BUSH: I believe that 25 million people, the vast majority, long to have elections.
I reject this notion -- and I'm suggesting my opponent isn't -- I reject the notion that some say that if you're Muslim you can't free, you don't desire freedom. I disagree, strongly disagree with that.

LEHRER: Thirty seconds.

KERRY: I couldn't agree more that the Iraqis want to be free and that they could be free.
But I think the president, again, still hasn't shown how he's going to go about it the right way. He has more of the same. And...WHERE IS YOUR PLAN!

Now, Prime Minister Allawi came here, and he said the terrorists are pouring over the border. That's Allawi's assessment. But they are NOT pouring over OUR Borders!
The national intelligence assessment that was given to the president in July said, best-case scenario, more of the same of what we see today; worst-case scenario, civil war.
I can do better. Really?!! WHAT IS YOUR PLAN?!!

BUSH: Yes, let me...

LEHRER: Yes, 30 seconds.

BUSH: The reason why Prime Minister Allawi said they're coming across the border is because he recognizes that this is a central part of the war on terror. They're fighting us because they're fighting freedom. They understand that a free Afghanistan or a free Iraq will be a major defeat for them.

BUSH: And those are the stakes. And that's why it is essential we not leave. That's why it's essential we hold the line. That's why it's essential we win. And we will. Under my leadership we're going to win this war in Iraq.

HughHewitt.com:
From Hugh Hewitt's blog:

"KERRY: 'Right now the president is spending hundreds of millions of dollars to research bunker-busting nuclear weapons. The United States is pursuing a new set of nuclear weapons. It doesn't make sense.

You talk about mixed messages. We're telling other people, 'You can't have nuclear weapons,' but we're pursuing a new nuclear weapon that we might even contemplate using.

Not this president. I'm going to shut that program down, and we're going to make it clear to the world we're serious about containing nuclear proliferation.'

This is may be the most astonishing part of Kerry's presentation last night, an authentic moment for the nuclear-freeze favoring, weapons-system hating Senator with 20 years of anti-military votes in the Congress. Kerry's voice actually rose with outrage when he said '[t]he United States is pursuing a new set of nuclear weapons.' 'It doesn't make sense,' he exclaimed.

How I wish Jim Lehrer had asked him why not. Then the authentic Kerry would have responded on the dangers of American power and American unilateralism. Notice Kerry's dismissiveness of the prospect of even using nuclear bunker busters. Does he prefer that a president of the future not have that option when confronted with a rogue nation threatening us or an ally but whose command and control facilities are buried deep in mountains or below a mile of concrete? Kerry states simply that seriousness about containing nuclear proliferation begins with 'shutting down' American weapons development. This is profoundly at odds with mainstream American defense thinking. It is a radical position, and Kerry is a radical candidate. Kerry expresses amazement that anyone can believe that America can say nukes for us but not for others, but America has been saying that since the dawn of the nuclear era, and must continue to say so. Follow Kerry's logic, and it is the iron logic of unilateral disarmament.

D.C. punditry talked itself into a corner on last night's debate. They should have listened more closely. America will not vote for this guy. He makes Carter look strong.

washingtonpost.com - Presidential Debate Between President Bush and Sen. John F. Kerry

In case you missed the Debate, or need to read how Kerry never answered the questions, here is the transcript.

My thoughts: I think Kerry looked polished and was able to use facts (not sure if they were factual); however, he never answered the questions and we still don't know his plan.

The President answered his questions, was clear and consise, however, he should have countered Kerry's nonanswer with something like, "Will you repeat the question, my opponent did not answer it." Or, "You asked, (the question), however, my oppenent did not answer it, therefore, I'll answer it for him."

Letter from Ken Mehlman, Campaign Manager

Dear Kim,

Over the next few days, at the office, at your children's football or soccer games, and in your homes, people will be talking about last night's debate. Here are some important facts to keep in mind as you're talking with friends and neighbors about the exchange.

President Bush spoke clearly and from the heart last night about the path forward - toward victory and security - in the War on Terror. The President spoke candidly about the difficulties facing our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan as these countries prepare for their first free elections. The terrorists will continue to fight these steps toward freedom because they fear the optimism and hope of democracy. They fear the prospects for their ideology of hate in a free and democratic Middle East.

President Bush detailed a path forward in the War on Terror - a plan that will ensure that America fights the enemy in Iraq and Afghanistan - not in America's cities.

John Kerry failed the one test he had to pass last night: he failed to close the credibility gap he has with the American people as his record of troubling contradiction and vacillation spiraled down to incoherence.

People have a clear choice between President Bush's clarity and strength to fight and win the War on Terror and John Kerry's attacks and reversals - born out of political calculation, not a vision for winning the War on Terror. People saw for themselves last night where John Kerry would lead our military, our allies and the world in the War on Terror - down a bumpy road paved with indecision, vacillation and cynicism. John Kerry has a record of wavering in the face of real challenges.

Truth and optimism are not competing ideals. The War on Terror is difficult - there will be good days and bad days, but the war is essential to our safety at home and victory is the only option.

Sincerely,

Ken Mehlman

Feedback from an Army Captain in Iraq in regards to Kerry's defeatist attitude.

The History of Social Security

Thanks for this info Glenna!

SOCIAL SECURITY:

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary,

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the General operating! fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to "put away," you may be interested in the following:

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent "Trust" fund and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratically-controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S.

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?

A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive SSI Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it! Then, after doing all this
lying and thieving and violation of the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens believe it!

And Kerry lies to the American People...AGAIN!
Kerry is telling us that Bush will bring back the draft, however, if you do the research, you will find that the DEMOCRATS are the ones trying to bring back the draft!

We Have to stop these lies!!!!

Interesting Turn of Events

I am watching Imus (MSNBC) talking with Howard Fineman of Newsweek and they both (liberals) have written off Kerry. Howard reluctantly agreed and Imus was all over it. According to Imus, in the eyes of the liberal media, Kerry is finished and they will no longer push publicity towards him.

Kerry is finally focusing on Iraq and has become the anti-war candidate only because the insurgency in Iraq is high at the moment. Should the Iraqi people and US soldiers get this under control, watch for Kerry to flop and back the war......

Need surgery? Here's how long you'll wait

Need surgery? Here's how long you'll wait

Here is another reason why we DO NOT want socialized medicine.

Susan Warner swallows addictive painkillers every day to ease the crippling pain she endures waiting for knee-replacement surgery.

One of her knees gave out in October and the Calgary woman has been waiting for the surgery since. However, Warner, 51, is lost in a lineup for the operation at the Rockyview General Hospital that she says could last 18 months.

"It's inhuman. The quality of my life is horrible and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it," she said Tuesday.

Waiting lists are crippling Canada's health-care system and frustrating patients and doctors alike. The Canadian Medical Association released a 10-point prescription on Tuesday that targets waiting lists for surgery and diagnostic procedures like MRIs and CT scans.

It proposes setting benchmark waiting times for surgery, hiring more health professionals, and expanding options for Canadians to get treatment in other jurisdictions.

In Calgary, as the city expands, so does the pressure to get people treated at local hospitals in a reasonable amount of time.

There are about 25,000 Calgarians waiting for surgery or scans at the city's four major hospitals. And the Calgary Health Region estimates waiting times for surgery are growing at an astronomical rate of 12 to 18 per cent every year.

Alberta Health's website says waiting times in Calgary are as follows:

- 62 weeks for a hip replacement at Peter Lougheed Centre;

- 62 weeks for general surgery at Rocky- view General Hospital;

- 30 weeks for MRI scans at Foothills Medical Centre;

- 54 weeks for knee replacement surgery at Rockyview General Hospital;

- 11 weeks for cardiac surgery at Foothills Medical Centre.

For Warner, the wait has come with a heavy price. She says she has become addicted to painkillers that are a daily staple to help her hobble through her workday.

Warner's a photographer, a job that keeps her on her feet most of the day, with or without her cane.

"I know I'm addicted. When I wake up in the morning, I'm shaking and have headaches," she said with a sigh. "I'll have to deal with that after the fact."

In their report, Canada's doctors and nurses are sending a direct message to premiers meeting this week in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., for three days of talks largely on Canada's ailing health-care system.

In its report, titled The Taming of the Queue, the Canadian Medical Association and Canadian Nurses Association argue the Canada Health Act should be revamped to help Canadians get quicker access to better health care.

Waiting for care is part of the "normal functioning of any health system," the report says, but warns excessive waits can have "significant health and economic impacts."

During the June election, Prime Minister Paul Martin identified waiting lists as the top issue facing the medicare system.

He vowed to spend $4 billion over the next five years to reduce waiting times, including focusing on five specific areas: cancer care, joint replacement, heart surgery, diagnostic imaging and sight restoration surgery.

The medical association's report proposes a 10-point plan to fix waiting lists, including:

n Establishing reasonable waiting times for different procedures;

n Allowing hospital funding to expand or contract depending on pressures, so service delivery isn't constrained by budget caps;

n Aggressively recruiting and retaining health-care professionals;

n Prioritizing services and ailments through consultation with the public and health-care providers;

n Improving the ability of Canadians to seek care in other provinces or out of the country.

The association's president said sustainable reforms -- not just more cash -- should be the premiers' focus if they hope to wean the system off its crutches.

"Access to health care in a timely manner is job No. 1 and Canadians expect nothing less," said Dr. Sunil Patel. "If (the premiers) focus on dollars alone, then we have lost everything. Canadians will lose confidence in their health-care system."

The report does say the system needs money.

"There is no doubt that the availability of resources does come to bear on the timeliness and accessibility of health-care services," the report says.

The Calgary Health Region has thrown hundreds of millions of dollars into expediting care for residents.

In February, the CHR announced a $450-million plan to open new beds and operating rooms, and expand emergency and intensive care units at the Foothills Medical Centre, Peter Lougheed Centre and Rocky-view General Hospital.

"Our longest waiting lists are in orthopedics and general surgery," said Tracy Wasylak, the CHR's vice-president of surgical services. "We're hoping to put resources into both of those programs this year to drop those waiting lists."

Sick of waiting for her pain to be eased, Warner, meanwhile, said she looked to Montana to expedite the surgery. However, the procedure would cost $25,000 -- leaving her to wait and hope in Canada.

"It's brutal. I'm in constant pain," Warner said. "I can't work to full capacity. It's difficult to function."

Get in line . . .

Waiting periods for surgical procedures at Calgary hospitals:

Hips, knees, bones, joints and muscles: 20 to 62 weeks

MRI scans: 17 to 31 weeks

General surgery (removal of gall bladder, hernia, lumps, cysts, varicose veins): 23 to 62 weeks

The New York Times > Opinion > Op-Ed Columnist: A War Hero or a Phony?:

"Did Mr. Kerry volunteer for dangerous duty? Not as much as his campaign would like you to believe. The Kerry Web site declares, 'As he was graduating from Yale, John Kerry volunteered to serve in Vietnam - because, as he later said, 'It was the right thing to do.' '

In fact, as Mr. Kerry was about to graduate from Yale, he was inquiring about getting an educational deferment to study in Europe. When that got nowhere, he volunteered for the Navy, which was much less likely to involve danger in Vietnam than other services. After a year on a ship in the ocean, Mr. Kerry volunteered for Swift boats, but at that time they were used only in Vietnam's coastal waters. A short time later, the Swift boats were assigned exceptionally dangerous duties up Vietnamese rivers. 'When I signed up for the Swift boats, they had very little to do with the war,'' Mr. Kerry wrote in 1986, adding, 'I didn't really want to get involved in the war.' "

He remembers Burkett saying that he had 'valuable' information about Bush, and asking what he should with it. 'I told him to contact the [Kerry] campaign,' Cleland said. 'You get this information tens of times a day, and you don't know if it is legit or not.' "

Survey: Swedes Skip Work Due to Fatigue

Fri Sep 17, 2:08 PM ET

By MATTIAS KAREN, Associated Press Writer

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - In a country already plagued by skyrocketing sick leave costs, a new survey found that 40 percent of the population thinks it's acceptable to skip work because they feel tired or have trouble getting along with their colleagues.

The survey, presented Friday by the National Social Insurance Board, showed that Swedes manifestly take advantage of the country's liberal sick leave system, officials said.

Sixty-five percent of the 1,002 people interviewed also said that a stressful work situation is also a valid reason for calling in sick.

The survey shows "a deep lack of knowledge about what the health insurance is meant to cover," board director Anna Hedborg said of Sweden's 9 million residents.

Alf Eckerhall, a social insurance expert with the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, went a step further: many Swedes are deliberately abusing the system.

"The insurance laws clearly state that inability to work because of illness" is the only valid reason to stay home, Eckerhall said. "The key word is 'inability to work' — not 'illness.'"

The survey, conducted June 17-24, did not have a margin of error.

Sweden's extensive cradle-to-grave welfare system includes generous social insurance programs covering sick leave, parental leave and unemployment benefits.

But paying for workers on long-term sick leave and disability has become one of the government's biggest expenditures.

Sick leave compensation tripled from 15 billion kronor ($2 billion) in 1997 to 45 billion kronor ($6 billion) in 2002.

In Sweden, the employer pays for the first three weeks' sick leave and workers can call in sick for seven days before needing a doctor's certificate or medical proof.

People who call in sick do not receive any compensation for the first day they are absent.

But Eckerhall said many are abusing the current system by leaving work and calling in sick shortly before their work day is over. That then counts as one sick day, which lets them start receiving sick pay the next day.

"That means your day without compensation was 15 minutes long," Eckerhall said. "Medically speaking, that sounds pretty odd."

Hedborg said the board will launch a massive nationwide campaign to inform people that only illness is a valid reason to stay home from work, she said.

"To many, this message may seem hard and even insensitive," she wrote. "The truth is that if we don't defend our common insurance today, we won't be able to afford keeping it."
